Protecting Property Rights
In 2008, Mr. Collins successfully won an appeal against the California Coastal Commission. His argument convinced the justices to overturn a decision made by the Coastal Commission essentially stripping the developer of his right to build an eco-friendly hotel in Monterey, California.
Mr. Collins has an ongoing relationship with a developer whom he has been able to protect from over-zealous planners and special interest groups. His client is a developer who is trying to develop and conserve a beautiful and large lake property in Riverside County, California. In an effort to prevent any public use and development, legal roadblocks set up by special interest groups were threatening the financial viability of his client's property. Mr. Collins has been able to defend his client's right to use his property for various public and private events.
